SOS-Morocco begins just nine miles across the water from Europe but a world away in every other way, Morocco is truly Africa. Ancient traditions and a mesmerizing landscape. Trail riding in another world as one of our recent participants eloquently put it.

To get you in the mood for this motorcycle adventure we have our traditional pre-trip Moroccan dinner at Djemaa-el-Fna, the busiest hubbub of a market on earth with snake charmers, jugglers and street entertainers from every part of Africa. Truly a sensory bombardment to savour.

In the early morning the bike tour begins as we head out of Marrakech toward the Southeast. Feel the terrain dropping away beside as you take on the rising, snaking Atlas mountains. After crossing the chilly snow-capped summit we ride down the steep and exhilarating Tizi n Tichka pass towards Ouarzazate, the crossroads for Southern Morocco. Star Wars, Gladiator and many other movies were filmed here, such is the uniqueness of the landscape. Europe and winter are a long way away as process of being one with your motorcycle and your universe begins.

Hang on because it’s a full days ride to the Sahara next. Our motorcycle adventure really gets hold of you on day two. You’ll feel like your crossing the moon. No people, no noise. At the end of it the road has disappeared and our experienced guides lead us to our stunning desert location for the night, surrounded by huge 700-foot tall sand dunes, an eerie silence and a sea of pinpoints in the blackness from the stars above.

The prospect of conquering the desert awaits us next day. The Paris-Dakar route is now close by. A morning of riding and falling on the softest surface you’ve ever ridden on for some is heaven, and for others a chance to watch, take photos and laugh as the madness unfolds. As much or as little as you want is what we offer you here. It’s harder than it looks and far more fun than you can imagine.

Empty the sand out of your boots, we’re heading West again, out of the desert and back onto relatively smooth roads (for Africa that is). Today is a shorter ride to catch our breath. We ride into jaw-dropping Todra Gorge, a mere crack in the hundreds of miles of rock-face. Our Hotel is wonderful. High above the river in the beautiful Dades valley lush green palms line the waters edge contrasting with the ancient mud villages and the scorched red dusty hills.

We’re back at the foothills of the Atlas ready for the next days off -road mountain experience. The ride is smooth on the way up and then where the road stops at the ski resort at the top we continue down dirt tracks and the snowy peaks of the Atlas Mountains, all the way down to a tranquil green valley and some cold beers below.

Just when you think you’ve to seen it all we arrive at the Tizi n Tess pass. Push the handlebars to the left, push the handlebars to the right, gawp, laugh, draw breath and repeat. Enjoy the endless hairpins on the way up and back on the way down. Catch your breath then do it all again, off-road this time. Up into the hills and out towards the Atlantic coast. This is truly a motorbiking adventure with everything for everyone!

After another night in luxurious accommodation to reward our efforts we are finally north bound again. Riding through the beautiful palm lined valleys of Immouzzer, up the beaches on the coast to the port of Essouira, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here we take time to explore, shop, lie on the beach and relax in the beautifully tranquil streets of the ancient walled market in this unique part of Morocco.

A last blast back to from the Atlantic to Marrakech. A whole day trail riding over the rural rolling farmland that you never normally see. Very freindly and great fun. Tiring but rewarding
On the way we visit the SOS Children's Village and the wonderful orphans we are helping. It’s a real success here as the local children compete to get a place in the SOS school.
